I Love ROCK n ROLL

ELVIS

I Love Rock & Roll, "Put Another Dime in The Jukebox Baby," says Joan Jett in the song I Love Rock & Roll. Yes Joan Jett and The Blackhearts had a Big Hit with the song in 1976, and the song still Rocks to this day. It's a great song, but did you know that the original version was written and recorded by Alan Merrill of The Arrows who recorded the song in 1975. Merrill wrote the music and lyrics in response to The Rolling Stones song It's Only Rock N Roll ("But I Like It"), another great song as well. Well just about any song about Rock N Roll is great.

Joan Jett heard the song watching a TV show and liked it, and started performing it at her live shows, but didn't record it until 1981 when she made did record the song, and made it the title track of her 1081 "I Love Rock N Roll." The song was a big hit for Jett and turned out to be her most commercially successful recording ever, with album selling 10 Million copies to date.

The ARROWS

"I LOVE ROCK N ROLL"

The Arrows made a pretty good recording of the song written by their lead singer Alan Merrill. So good that Joan Jett like it and started performing it live. She recorded the Alan Merrill composition in 1981, which went on to become a big hit. Though Merrill didn't have a big hit and The Arrows faded away, lucky for Merrill that Joan Jett recorded the song and made a bi hit of it, it afforded Merrill a financial windfall, as the song writer Alan Merrill made a good chunk of change from the 10 million seller. This is what happens sometimes in the music business.

Yes, "I LOVE ROCK N ROLL"
