CAROLE KING

"IT'S TOO LATE"

From The TAPESTRY Album

Carole King is one of America's Greatest Song Writers. She wrote such hits as "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" a monster hit recorded by The SHIRELLES of nearby Passaic, NJ. She wrote: Take Good Care of My Baby (recorded by Bobby Vee), The Loco Motion, Up on The Roof for The DRIFTERS, "I'm Into Something Good" (recorded by The Herman's Hermits), "One Fine Day" recorded by The Chiffons, "Pleasant Valley Sunday" recorded by The MONKEES, NATURAL WOMAN recorded by the Late Great ARETHA FRANKLIN, all written at King's years at the famed BRILL BUILDING in New York City.

Carole King moved to Laurel Canyon LA California, where she met James Taylor who encouraged and persuaded Carole to perform her own music and go up on stage. King recorded her first SOlo Album "Writer" with James Taylor playing Acoustic Guitar on the album. King recorded and released her seminal album "Tapestry" in 1971. The album was an instant hit, and a sort of anthem album of the Hippy Set, especially among females.

On Stage at ROOSEVELT STADIUM

JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY

August 8, 1974

The Day PRSIDIENT RICHARD NIXON Resigned from
the Presidency of The UNITED STATES of AMERICA.

David Crosby recalls, "The most Memorable Moment for me was the August 8th Concert at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City, New Jersey. While we were on, President Nixon went on TV and said he was resigning the next day. When we heard backstage, we went bonkers. Graham announced it to the audience and the place went completely up for grabs. It was a moment of complete and utter joy, that a dark cloud was finally lifting and everyone there had somehow been part of it. We Immediately performed :A Long Time Gone."

CROSBY STILLS & NASH

"LONG TIME GONE"

Long Time Gone was the first song that CROSBY STILLS NASH & YOUNG performed following Graham Nash announcing to the concert crowd that Richard Nixon announced that he was resigning from the Presidency, at which point the crowd at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City went absolutely "WILD" at the announcement. David Crosby said, "We immediately performed Long Time Gone. The rest is CSNY, American, and Presidential History.

"LOVE THIS PICTURE of JIMI"

Every time I listen to the great Jimi Hendrix, I can't help think, "what if Jimi lived? What would the music be like (subsequent records, never realized)? Would Jimi still be living in Greenwich Village, New York, his home where he lived before tragically dying of an overdose of drugs in London, September 18, 1970 at the age of 27 ...

The Allman Brothers Live Filmore East NYC

DUAN ALLMAN

The ALLMAN BROTHERS

LIVE at The FILMORE EAST

STATESBORO BLUES

1971

"In MEMORY of ELIZABETH REED"

The ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND

LIVE at The FILMORE EAST

NEW YORK NY

1971

"Just LISTEN"

The Allman Brothers Band played the Filmore East Theater in New York's East Village on the 11th, 12th, & 13th of March 1971 .. They were not the headliners, Johnny Winter had top billing and Elvin Bishop was also on the ticket.

This album is highly regarded by many as the greatest live rock music album ever recorded, and who would disagree. The album features the great Duane Allman on guitar, considered by anyone who knows anything about Rock Music to be one of the Greatest Rock Guitar Players of all-time, right up there with the late great Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, and Eric Clapton. The band really rocks from the opening song Statesboro Blues, to the incomparable In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, Whipping Post, Hot Lanta, Done Somebody Wrong, Stormy Monday, and You Don't Love Me, the boys absolutely ROCK !

Yes, The Allman Brothers Live at The Filmore East is not only the greatest Live Rock ALbum of all, is most likely Greatest Rock Albums Live or Studio Recorded ever made, even Top 10 of All Time.

Tragically Duane Allman would be dead 7 months after the Concerts at The Filmore East (and recordings). Duane was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle in Macon, Georgia on October 29, 1971. Duane was only 24 years old, at the time of his death. The Allman Brithers Bass Guitar Player Berry Oakley would be killed on his motorcycle a year later, just 3 blocks from where Duane died.

RIP DUANE & BERRY

The BYRDS Mr Tambourine Man

The BYRDS

The ED SULLIVAN SHOW

1965

Mr TAMBOURINE MAN

The BYRDS

Mr. Tambourine Man is a song written by Bob Dylan, who recorded it in 1965, and it was on his album Bring It All Back Home. The song was recorded by many artist, including: Melanie, Judy Collins, Stevie Wonder, Chad & Jeremy, and The Byrds who also recorded Mr Tambourine Man in 1965, making it the title track of their first album Mr. Tambourine Man.

The song Mr. Tambourine Man speaks of a narrator who wants a Tambourine Man to play a song for hi and he will follow. The lyrics are surrealistic and the song is about Hallucinogenic Drug experience and about the singer's muse.

I Love ROCK n ROLL

ELVIS

I Love Rock & Roll, "Put Another Dime in The Jukebox Baby," says Joan Jett in the song I Love Rock & Roll. Yes Joan Jett and The Blackhearts had a Big Hit with the song in 1976, and the song still Rocks to this day. It's a great song, but did you know that the original version was written and recorded by Alan Merrill of The Arrows who recorded the song in 1975. Merrill wrote the music and lyrics in response to The Rolling Stones song It's Only Rock N Roll ("But I Like It"), another great song as well. Well just about any song about Rock N Roll is great.

Joan Jett heard the song watching a TV show and liked it, and started performing it at her live shows, but didn't record it until 1981 when she made did record the song, and made it the title track of her 1081 "I Love Rock N Roll." The song was a big hit for Jett and turned out to be her most commercially successful recording ever, with album selling 10 Million copies to date.

The ARROWS

"I LOVE ROCK N ROLL"

The Arrows made a pretty good recording of the song written by their lead singer Alan Merrill. So good that Joan Jett like it and started performing it live. She recorded the Alan Merrill composition in 1981, which went on to become a big hit. Though Merrill didn't have a big hit and The Arrows faded away, lucky for Merrill that Joan Jett recorded the song and made a bi hit of it, it afforded Merrill a financial windfall, as the song writer Alan Merrill made a good chunk of change from the 10 million seller. This is what happens sometimes in the music business.

Yes, "I LOVE ROCK N ROLL"

This Boy

The BEATLES

John Lennon

And The BEATLES

"THIS BOY"

"This Boy" was a beautiful sweet song from the Beatles early innocent years. It features John Lennon singing along with George Harrison and Paul McCartney playing acoustic guitars and harmonizing along with John.

This Boy was written in 1963 by John Lennon (credited to Lennon & McCartney version y). The song was actually the Side B on the Beatles Smash Hot 45 RPM "I Want to Hold Your" though for me "This Boy" is a far superior song in style and overall feeling. The song was featured on the album MEET THE BEATLES, issued in 1964.

The Beatles performed THIS BOY live on The Ed SULLIVAN SHOW in New York on February 16th 1964.

An instrumental version of THIS BOY was orchestrated by George Martin for the movie "A Hard Days Night" for the towpath scene with Ringo Starr. This instrumental was on the American release of the soundtrack album for a Hard Day's Night and titled Ringo's Song, which featured Jimmy Paige on guitar.

Be My Valentine

Screenshot 2020-02-14 at 1.27.16 PM

"Be My Valentine"

Valentine's Day (or Saint Valentine's Day) is observed on February 14 each year. Today Valentine's Day is celebrated in many countries around the world, mostly in the West, although it remains a working day in all of them. The original "St. Valentine" was just a liturgical celebration of one or more early Christian saint named Valentinus. All the modern romantic connotations were added several centuries later by poets. The day first became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. By the 15th century, it had evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as "valentines"). Modern Valentine's Day symbols include the heart-shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid. Since the 19th century, handwritten valentines have given way to mass-produced greeting cards.
