Farewell Aretha RIP

Aretha Franklin

The QUEEN of SOUL

Goodbye and God Bless

As a child of the 60s, I grew up listening to the Beatles, The Four Seasons, The Supremes, all sorts of Pop, Rock, and R&B Music and even my mom's music of Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and Dean Martin, I grew up with all these wonderful artists and their music and it enriched my life. This music was a natural part of my life and I just loved it, it made me feel good as I listened and sometimes I'd sing along. Along with these artists I have already mentioned and many more too numerous to mention, as in those days there was a great abundance of incredibly fabulous music, unlike today. Yes, I loved Pop Music, Standards, Rock, and R&B music of which along with Dianna Ross, Marvin Gaye, SMokey Robinson, and others, Aretha Franklin was always there, a natural part of my love with her wonderful music, musicc that made me happy and made me feel good, it was all so natural back then, all the great music which included fabulous artist like Aretha "The Queen of Soul." Yes all those wonderful artist who made great music in the 60s and 70s gave the general public their wonderful gifts of their musical talents and we thank them especially today, it seems that musical artist of the 21st Century just reffuse o make any good music at all. It is quite sad they don't make good music anymore, and for this reason as great as the musical artists like Aretha Franklin, The Supremes, The Beatles, Marvin, Frank SInatra and all the talented musical artist of the 1960s and 1970s have always been great, it makes them all the greater as we see in these times there no longer exists any great music artist, the fact that we have records and can listen to people like Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Dianna Ross, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong and so many others, I and many others are so very greatful. Thank you Aretha and all your talented contemporaries. Goodbye Sweet Aretha, and God Bless You Always, you will live The SUPREMESon in memory and your music.

Thanks again Sweet Aretha, You Will Be Missed.

I Saw AEROSMITH Sweet Emotion

AeroStevenJOEperry

Steven Tyler and Joe Perry

Arrive at Rockefeller Center
with AEROSMITH Band Members
For AERSOSMITH TODAY SHOW CONCERT

I had the good fortune to see Aerosmith Live the other day. It show was at the Skating Rink outside at Rockfeller Center for the Today Show. I heard Aerosmith was playing and I just had to go, even if I did have to get up at 5 AM in the morining, it was well worth it to finally get to see a band that I love, and especially if I must say so, like most who follow Aerosmith, I just love Steven Tyler. It's his awesomely exhuborant energy, and fantabulous personality of the man.  Steven is always upbeat and give the people what they want. Yes the show was awesome, and I got to see Steven Tyler and Joe Perry close up as the got off their Dueces are Wild tour bus and made there way to the stage for their performance. The band really Rocked as Aerosmith always does. Sweet Emotion was explosive with Steven leading the band and getting the crowdd going and into the song and the band. So happy I made it to the show, and it was nice when Joe Perry thanked the crowd at the end of the performance, and said, "Thanks everyone for coming to see us." That was great, as was Steven , Joe himself, Brad Whitford, and Joey Kramer. It waas a Great Day, "Thank You Steven, thank you Joe, thank you Aerosmith . You guys Rocked."   PS ... Since Aeromith was in the area, the following night the performed Mama Kin on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon .

My MUSIC Author Daniel Bellino Zwicke

THROUGH THE PAST DARKLY

Big Hits Vo. 2 , 1969

One of our First Albums
My sister Barbara, brother Jimmy and I got this album from Columbia Record Club
8 Records for .99 Cents
"Isn't this the way most kids in the 60s and 70s started their Album Collection?"

YOU KNOW IT WAS !

In the inside flap of the album, there is an anonymous poem chosen by Jones, which reads: "When this you see, remember me, and bear me in your mind. Let all the world say what they may, speak of me as you find." My Brother JIMMY and I really Loved this album, that had such great STONES Tunes as: HONKY TONK WOMAN, Let's Spend The Night Together, JUMPIN JACK FLASH , DANDELION, RUBY TUESDAY,  SHE'S A RAINBOW and .....

The First Album I Ever Bought in a Record Store

Elton John 's

MADMAN ACROSS THE WATER

I bought this album at a Music Record Shop "Tomko Brothers" in Rutherford , NJ next to The RIVIOLI THEATER. It was the first album that I ever bought in a record store, though not the first Rock Albums we owned, as we got those 8 albums from the Columbia Record Club where you got  8 albums for .99 Cents. "Remember?"

I FEEL FINE
45 RPM
The BEATLES

This was the First Rock N Roll Record I ever Owned

My Dad bought a little RECORD PLAYER for my sister and I for Christmas around 1964 Along with the Record Player, my Dad bought us this Record and a copy of ROCKING AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE by Brenda Lee. I almost wore out both of these records playing them over and over again, along with some 78 RPM Records my Father bought in Japan. The record was called TOKYO SHOESHINE BOY.

Frank Sinatra

STRANGERS in THE NIGHT

I've been a huge SINATRA Fan since I was a young boy. I was fortunate to see him perform live and in Concert 7 Times. Strangers in The Night is a great album, with some of my favorite Sinatra tunes, including The SUMMER WIND, Call Me, All or Nothing at All (Cole Porter), and of course Strangers in The Night.

Musical arrangements by Nelson Riddle and His Orchestra
Sinatra won 2 Grammy Awards for this album in 1967 for Record of The Year and Best Male Vocal Performance.

Yes this was my 1st of many Sinatra albums. I now own more than 40 vinyl albums by the great Frank Sinatra, and about 12 CDs ...

The Rolling Stones

STICKY FINGERS

1971

One of ROCKS ALL TIME Greatest Albums

It would only be natural for most people to assume that that is Mick Jagger on the Iconic STICKY FINGERS album cover. "It's not." Many have speculated who the model was. Some say it was jed Johnson who was Andy Warhol's campanion at the time. Some say, it was Jed's brother Jay Johnson, and some say it was Corey Tippin and Koe Delasandro claims that the cover figure in Blue Jeans is him. The picture is not of any of these people. That is none other than former Warhol Factory Member and the First Editor of Andy Warhol's Interview Magazine (1971 - 1974) the late Glenn O'Brien on not "The Cover of The Rolling Stone," but on the Rolling Stones cover of STICKY FINGERS .

Dianna Ross & The Supremes

BABY LOVE

Dam? I Loved The SUPREMES. Especially Dianna Ross who I had the pleasure of seeing in Concert at FOREST HILLS TENNIS STADIUM in Forrest Hills Queens. The Supremes were part of my growing up and I always loved hearing them and their string of Hits back in the 60s
...

AND of COURSE

LITTLE STEVIE WONDER

My Cherie Amour

Stevie had a String of Big Hits, and it was always great to hear him on the Radio too. We had a couple Hit 45s of Stevie's, and the first STEVIE WONDER album I bought was SONGS in a KEY of LIFE. And what an album. Monster Huge.

The ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND

Live at The FILLMORE EAST

Featuring the Late Great DUANE ALLMAN and his Brother GREGG ALLMAN
I have an Original Album. I had a copy of FRAGILE by YES and my good friend Chucky Foster wanted it, so we traded. He got FRAGILE and I got this, The ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND "LIVE at THE FILLMORE EAST"

Sorry Chucky, but I Think I Got The Better Deal

Carly Simon

NO SECRETS

Great album, with thee Monster Hit "YOU'RE SO VAIN" by Carly. This album was out at the same time that Duane Allman was tragically Killed in a Motorcycle accident in Macon, Georgia. Millions speculated for years who was Carly singing about in the song You're So Vain, if it was Mick Jagger or the actor Warren Beatty. After 40 Years, Carly confirmed that it was her ex-boyfriend Warren Beatty, "Then you flew your Lear Jet up to Novia Scotia, to see a Total Eclipse of The Sun."

Diamonds & Rust

A Wonderful album by JOAN BAEZ with many Beautiful Songs

"I LOVED THIS ALBUM"

Though it is not well known to most.

HENDRIX

ARE YOU EXPERIENCED
by The Late Great JIMI HENDRIX
"I Have an Original Copy of This Album"

LONG LIVE JIMI
"Ah Move Over ROVER, and let JIMI Take Over"

HARVEST

Neil Young

There was a two year period when I was in High School that I was a huge Fan of Neil Young and his music, including AFTER THE GOLD RUSH, and this great album, HARVEST.

Jethro Tull

AQUALUNG

This was a Huge Album in the Early 1970s and I bought an Original Copy that I still have. I was heavily into JETHRO TULL for a few years. I also have The BENEFIT Album and the Living in The Past album. I still have all 3 albums, as I do all my albums. I never got rid of any of them.
 I LOVE VINYL !!!

SONGS in a KEY of LIFE

A Monster Album by STEVIE WONDER

"I played this album like Crazy from its 1976 Release and all through the 80s. I Loved it. And the frist year it came out I remember listening to it with my friends: Annette Solomini, Maria Caruso (RIP), Debbie Costa, mys sister Barbara, and others. Wonderful songs that always bring back memories of those days in the mid to late 1970s whenever I hear one of these songs on the radio these days. God Bless my Dear Freind Maria Caruso (RIP) who I listened to this album with, along with our friends. Sadly, dear Maria passed away at a young age in the early 1980s ... God Bless Her Soul. "WALK THIS WAY"

This song is about a promiscuous cheerleader who leads a schoolboy through his first sexual experience. It's an extremely sexual song that played perfectly to Aerosmith's young male fanbase while being ambiguous enough to get airplay. Lead singer Steven Tyler, who wrote the lyrics, said, "'Walk This Way' came out all at once. If you listen to the words, they're all really filthy. If you listen closely you'll hear that I disguised it quite cleverly.

"Walk This Way" is the title of Aerosmith's 1999 autobiography. In the book, Steven Tyler deconstructs the lyrics to this song. Here's the breakdown:

"Backstroke Lover" is our hero masturbating. His father catches him, and explains that he will someday experience the real thing. One day, he encounters the cheerleader along with "her sister and her cousin," and has a glorious sexual experience (Tyler cops to fantasies about two women at once, which is where this came from).

The "walk this way" line is the experienced girl showing the young man where to put his finger - showing him how to walk. Inspiration came from make-out parties where this kind of thing could happen.

Tyler points out that while the lyrics are sexually charged, it is the girl who is in control.

Aerosmith wasn't well known when this came out, and the song didn't chart when it was first released in September 1975. A year later, after their album Rocks took off, the single was reissued and became a hit. They re-released "Dream On" the next year.

When Steven Tyler finally came up with lyrics for this song, he entered the studio to record it and realized he left the lyrics in the cab. His incredulous bandmates thought he was just stalling, and they got in another of their many fights. Tyler walked to the stairwell, let out a primal scream, and wrote new lyrics on the wall, since he forgot to bring paper with him. The original lyrics he left in the cab were never recovered.

Joe Perry used a talkbox during the chorus. This was the first time the device was used on a hit song. The talkbox allows a guitarist to make strange vocal sounds by "talking" into a vinyl tube attached to the unit, which is hooked up to the output of the guitar amp. Perry also used a talkbox on "Sweet Emotion."

The Run-D.M.C. cover launched Aerosmith's comeback. They were in drug rehab when it came out, but sobered up and released Permanent Vacation in 1987, which gave them a string of hits, their first since "Come Together" in 1978. The collaboration also boosted the band's profile in Europe, where Run-D.M.C. was huge.

The city of Boston used this in a 1999 publicity campaign to cut back on jaywalking. They used it in commercials encouraging people to use crosswalks.

On the "Rock and Roller Coaster" at Disney's MGM Studios, a virtual Aerosmith gives an introduction before you get on, Aerosmith songs play throughout the ride. When the ride opened, this was the only song that played, which may have instilled a deep hatred of the song among the Disney employees working the roller coaster. This ride is highly recommended by the Songfacts staff.

Steven Tyler told Rolling Stone magazine, April 15, 2004: "The Yardbirds' music is a gold mine waiting to be stumbled upon. Aerosmith did, because we grew up in that era. The riff in 'Walk This Way' is just us trying to explore the blues in the Yardbirds model."

LYRICS - Walk This Way

Backstroke lover always hidin' 'neath the cover 'Till I talked to my daddy he say
He said, you ain't seen noting 'Till you're down on a muffin Then you're sure to be a-changin' your ways
I met a cheerleader, was a real young bleeder All the times I can reminisce Ah the best thing lovin' with her sister and her cousin Started with a little kiss, like this
See-saw swingin' with the boys in the school With your feet flyin' up in the air Singin' hey diddle-diddle with the kitty in the middle You be swingin' like you just didn't care
So I took a big chance at the high school dance With a missy who was ready to play Was it me she was foolin'? 'Cause she knew what she was doin' Taught me how to walk this way She told me to
Walk this way, walk this way Walk this
