Bar Cichetti, which was located in Greenwich Village, New York was America's first ever Venetian Wine Bar, aka Bacaro, Former Chef and now bestselling Italian Cookbook Author Daniel Bellino Zwicke fell in love with the unique wine-bars that they have in Venice, Italy. Daniel went to Venice and went to every single Bacaro in Venice, eating the food (cichetti) , drinking a lot of local wine, hanging out, and chatting with the waiters, barmen, waitresses, and the owners of these special places and learn all he could about the Wine Bars of Venice. He drew menus, thought about names, did all sorts of research on the food, wine, history and habits of the wine bars of Venice. Daniel teamed up with Tom T., built and created the first Venetian Wine Bar to exist, way back in 1997.
Bar Cichetti was in operation for several years, garnering many accolades (Culinary Press) and loyal customers.
