In MEMORY of ELIZABETH REED

The ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND

Live at The FILMORE EAST - NEW YORK CITY

1971

Listen to this song. It totally ROCKS ! Written by Dickey Betts. This was recorded Live at The Filmore East in New York City. This song is one of the great legendary songs in Rock N Roll History. Listen to the amazing Guitars of Duane Allman and Dickey Betts, fluid organ playing by Greg Allman, Berry Oakley on Bass, and duelling drums of Jaimoe & Butch Trucks.

Gravestone in ROSE HILL CEMETARY

MACON, GEORGIA

In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" was inspired by a woman Betts was involved with in the group's hometown of Macon, Georgia. She was the girlfriend of musician Boz Scaggs, with Betts later saying she "was Hispanic and somewhat dark and mysterious—and she really used it to her advantage and played it to the hilt."[ To cloak her identity, the composition is named after a headstone Betts saw at the Rose Hill Cemetery, where band members often ventured in their early days to relax and write songs. Considerable legend developed about the piece's genesis and what Betts was doing at the time, much of it fueled by a put-on interview band leader Duane Allman gave Rolling Stone. "Duane told some crazy shit about that graveyard. I don't wanna tell all—but that's the part that matters," Betts later said. For his part, vocalist Gregg Allman was candid about his experiences in the cemetery: "I'd be lying if I said I didn't have my way with a lady or two down there." The cemetery later became the final resting spot of Duane and Gregg Allman, along with bassist Berry Oakley and drummer Butch Trucks.

"SWEET EMOTION"

One of The GREATEST ROCK SONGS of ALL-TIME !!! PERIOD !

The Intro is so "SICK" !!!  The instrumental intro leading up to Steven Tylers vocal intro, is absolutely Amazing !!! Speaking of "Sick" ??? The Bass Lines by Bass Player Tom Hamilton are among the greatest bass playing in Rock-N-Roll History. The guys was a genius. Genius as far as Bass Players are concerned anyway. Oh, and speaking of Hamilton, he co-wrote Sweet Emotion along with Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler.

I was fortunate to see Aerosmith perform Sweet Emotion at a NBC "Today Show" morning concert at the Ice Rink at Rockefeller Center, in New York City. The boys were "Spot On' with a Great Performance that I absolutely "Loved." Thank You Guys.

LADY is a TRAMP

Cole Porter's "I GET a KICK OUT of YOU"

Sinatra: The Main Event was an ABC musical television special starring Frank Sinatrabroadcast on October 13, 1974. The special documents a concert given by Sinatra at Madison Square Garden in New York City, in which Sinatra is accompanied by the Woody Herman band, and introduced by Howard Cosell.
The concert that was broadcast, was the last of a series of six that Sinatra gave at Madison Square Garden in October 1974, the audio from the concerts had also been taped and the highlights would be released as The Main Event – Live. The saxophonist Jerry Doidgson who performed on the concerts felt that the televised performance wasn't as strong as the others as Sinatra's natural pacing of the concert was disrupted by the mechanisms of television production.
